Episode 4: The Day before Dawn

In the afternoon, Rayev came to Keelize’s outpost with an errand. Together with him was Hetik, Thojonan and the other footmen on arms. Keelize went out to greet them with a warm smile.

“Haven’t seen you folks quite awhile , how are you?

Rayev dismounted from the saddle and walk towards Keelize with a scoll holding in his left hand. With a serious voice he said

“Things just aren’t going pretty well these days, all of our freshmen are needed at a fight back in South-West Wensburen, the second outpost in the South - West. That’s why I’m here for reinforcement. Captain Irannada is going to lead us this time.”

Keelize quickly move to the armoury rack to get his sword. Facing Rayev he said

“Great! She had thaught me hand-to-hand battle very well during the training. Looks like we’re going to try our skills on the…”

Interrupt Rayev “Painless, the Orogrith. Elites among the Orcs we faced in this part of Wensburen. Scouts reported that they are some activities along the mountain pass a few months ago. Captain Irannada had been warning us on the occasionally occurrence. Many footmen went to fight the Orogrith and few went back.”

Hetik had been listening to the conversation attentively, when Rayev finished his sentence, he said

“Well, I heard that we’re not going to engage them this time, let them come to our outpost and we’ll set trap on them.”

After listening to that suggestion, Rayev’s eyes turned brightly, brighter than any stars at night. “Wow! That’s a nice idea Ketik! I can’t wait to kick those Orogrith’s ***.” Exclaimed Rayev.

A moment or two later, Captain Irannada ring the gong and called up an assembly. Around thirty other footmen reached the came also join in the crowd. When the crowd is at the meeting point, she announced,

“Scout had reported that the Orogrith is heading this way in the number of 60 of them. It is one-on-one if we’re to battle them face to face. Therefore, I shall assigned a 20 person tactical section to set traps and ambush on them, another 20 person with be fighting them in front and the last 20 person is to stay back on the watchtowers, 10 in each towers. The 20 tactical section should make their troop in disorder while the fighting section will be fighting them and lure them to the middle of the towers. This will buy the tactical section enough time to reach the tower. By the time the Orogriths are back in order again, retreat to the towers. High chances of them will follow the fighting section. If everything goes right, they should end up between the two towers and burning grass. Then we can defeat them easily by sending in fire arrows and poisioned arrows. If things go wrong, we would have to fight them hand-to-hand. Now cast lots among yourselves for the position. Be here when the sun is at 20 degree tomorrow. Do I made myself clear?”

“Yes, my lady.” Answered the gathering together. Then they begun to cast lots and form sections for their fight tomorrow. After casting lots, Rayev went in smiling and ask Hetik,

“Hey Hetik, what position didi you get? I got in the fighting section! Man I’m really gonna kick those *** tomorrow!”

Hetik replied, “I’m in the fighting section too, hehehe!” and laughted and hold his breath and laughted.

Not want to be left behind, Keelize popped in with a cry,

“Hey! I’m with you guys too!”

Seeing Hetik laugh and Keelize’s popped in, Rayev laughted even louder and said, “High five Hetik and Keelize! Cheers~”. As they drink their favourite Ice milk tea. Ravey’s high five maybe the first high five in the world. Liquor were forbidden in the army so they have drink tea. Tea is absolutely a luxury for them. These tea leaves were form the Naga traders up North in the Mainland Naga. They sailed to trade in the part of land every three years. After the conversation, they went back into position. The tactical section discuss more detail on their plan while the fighting section trained harder that day. No one was resting until the middle of the night
