I survived 30 Hours without Food!

You've got the power! Yeah! It's has been quite some time before I update. The
reasons excuses were I busy with my assignments, tutorials and a test. if I don't
post it sooner or later it won't have the Umph![power].

On 12pm 21st March 2009, we started our 30 hour Fast till 6pm the next day. Many of my
friends have already post their feelings and photos, well I'll just post on a few more
from my point of view.

In the camp, we always have sharing after every activities, I'm quite amazed by how people
shared their experience and feelings. When it come to my turn, I just lost what I wanted
to say. It's not that I have no feelings or didn't experience anything. Maybe I'm just not
very good in expressing my ideas. Throughout my study we're more keen to express ourself
in words rather than verbal.

During this time too people were willing to do anything in order to survive including
drug smuggling, prostitution and working in mafia gang. In my family, I urged them not to
take up any illegal occupation. In the end, thanks to the cooperation of every family
member we're able to get everyone vaccinated, get our camp done but we only got enough
food for three out of eight members in the family. I believe we can do it better if there
is a next time. :)

Vowed to fast for 30 hours.

There are many performances by local artist including Daniel Lee, Francessca Peters,
Evenstarr, Soulcatchez and other performing artists. The organising commitee really did a
great job on this.

Through this camp I had met many nice people around, normally I won't talk to people I do
not know in the camp but this time I try to talk to new friends in my group and found out
they are very nice folks. Especially our group leader, Sheldon and his assistant, Grace.
Besides, I graduated from Kuching High for 3 years and still have the chance to meet the young ex-highians - Karen and Angelina Jolie. There are people who come with family too like
Viki. I remembered her mom saying she was really worried when Viki's camp was destroyed by
local authority though she is in my "family". We lend them our building materials to get
their camp back to shape after that.

From the photo you can see that our camp is made of newspaper, plastic chair and nylon
stirngs. Our group had problem with sagging roof so we try to solve it by using suspension
roof and increased the weight of our four columns(chairs). It did worked very well and in
the end I spent too much time on the camp I that I forgot to get my food provision.. =_="

In Famine Challenge 2, we're refugees in Kolkata after an earthquake. So we moved in to
the city to make a living there, if we couldn't make enough, we have to move to the slump.
What we did was making stars from newspaper resembling refugees making handy crafts to
make a living. We need to earn 15 Rupees each person per day in a family in order to live
through the day. If someone is sick then the situation will be worst. Our family combined
into 16 person but we only managed to get 1 rupee from the sale of 10 paper stars. Hehe!
What a haul for 1 single rupee.

Wow... I thought I don't have time to blog about 30 hour famine but in the end I wrote so much. Hopefully you guys will read some of it and continue next time you arrive as I won't be updating frequently.. Took photo with William and Jolene, Dixon and her sis. You've Got the Power!

What's up in March? It's the first ever 30-Hour-Famine held in Kuching on 21-22 March ! For those who don't know, the 30-Hour-Famine is a global movement against hunger and poverty. Participants fast for 30 hours and get a glimpse of the dire conditions that impoverished children and families everyday. They also learn about poverty issues. It is co-organised by World Vision and Sin Chew Jit Po with the participating organisation of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (which is the Sarawak Chinese Methodist Churches), Swinburne Sarawak Student Council, and tHe Spring.

Ok, 30-Hour-Famine has come to Kuching so what? What does it have to do with me? Your paticipation of course! Joining camp means you get to meet more hot chicks new friends! If you want to join 30-Hour-Famine, all you have to is to raise donation for a certain amount of money. For student and senior citizen, the minimum amount is RM80 while for non-student, the minimum amount is RM120. Here's what you need to do. First, get a donation card in tHe Spring.

And then start collecting donations, be remined that you cannot make public appeal with this donation card, you can only approach family members and friends for donations. So people, if I approached you for donations, I mean it because I really want to join the Famine help the poors. hehe Well, I got my donation card around one month ago and let it grow dust on my workstation till this week. When you got your minimum amount or reach the due date, you simply return it to customer service counter in tHe Spring. After you return the card, you'll be issued an officail receipt for admission to the camo and also the camper's note containing the detailed information on the camp. You can see that I didn't really approach many people because it was a week before Chinese New Year when I get the card, many people had spent their money on Chinese New Year Goodies, then after that is Valentine's day, more people are broke after giving their best to their beloved. After all that I got 1 week left. The due date is on 1st of March 2009. Save children's life! Donate to me!

Google ungoogle?

Is it me or google really gone crazy? Help...

This happened around 11.10pm, January 31 2009. It was gone after 10 minutes. I can't imagine my own blog have the "this site may harm your computer" word on it and on every site I want to visit. Luckily it was not any virus too. Thank God!

Joy To The World - Hillsong

MV Doulos in Kuching

We went to MV Doulos yesterday, I thought it opens at 10am but when we arrived, it says open at 2pm. So we went for a drink and some walk and came back at 2pm. The first thing we saw was this century old ship docking at the habour.After my invissible friend and I went on the ship, we looked around and took some photos. Then we continued to the bookshop. The bookshop on MV Doulos, is the World largest floating bookshop. There are many variaties in the bookshop including song CDs and DVDs, well what I can say is that the bookshop is like a christian bookshop with some cookbooks and children books. After that, we went down to take another photo. The photo above shows my invissible friend and me. For some reasons, my friend turned invissible whenever we take photo... hm..





For your information, this is the final time MV Doulos visiting Kuching. The ship was built in 1914 and had been in commision in as a frieghter in World War II, converted to a motor vassel and serve as a passenger ship (Wikipedia). In 1977, Gute Bücher für Alle - GBA, previously known as Good Books for All, a private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in Germany (MV Doulos). The ship is to be de-commisioned at 2010. The ship is going to be in Kuching till 3rd of January, so hurry up pick pick up some souvenirs before it's too late! :)

Pasir Pandak

My youth organised a trip to Pasir Pandak yesterday, we have around 50 people joining. Haha! The guy in pink shirt is not from our church, he is our guest. We have a light breakfast before we go depart to the beach.

Some of us are arranged to go by church while others drive their own car.Our church vanOk, this is exactly what u can see in Google Earth. There is one "itu gunung" entry in Google Earth, try to look for it.On the left, it is the same as Google Earth photo too.My first impression of the beach was, Eew! It's so dirty, I'm going to swim in that sea.We had a simple praise and worship as a start, followed by 2 games by the organiser.But many of us did bring frisbie to the beach so we're having fun.This is our champion group a.k.a. my group. We're taking photo after winning 2 consecutive beach games.

Wer're no. 1! We're no. 1! We're no. 1! Mould and designed by me!Let me introduce to you the Pyramid of Champion! Haha! Again, it is designed, fine tuned by me. lol!

This is how we have our lunch, fried mee or kueh tiaw with extra sausages(hot dog) and an egg.

We dipped ourselve into the poluted water of Bako after lunch. Though the sea is polluted, our mind, body and spirit is not. :p That is the only photo that I managed to get as I'm using a camera phone to take photo... It does not have water resistant...

We returned around 2pm when the sun is blazzing hot. It's really God's grace for us to have such fun and having the chance of knowing each other. I really know more about my youth after this trip.

Well, just an update of what I have been doing these days. Back to reality, I still got 2 water assignments with one partially completed and one untouched, 1 CAE assignment and 2 fluid lab reports to be passed up.

Some times we just feel lazy and loosing our motivation when we're tossed my unfinished assignment. It's good to find a way to relax our mind, body and spirit. We never know we might stumble across some super ideas that can change the World. Having supper with friends is one of the ways to release stress..
